Weekly Update--Week of November 25

Hi All,

On Friday, all of the math students took a test.  The Algebra students' test was on Chapter 4, and the Pre-Algebra test was on Pythagorean Theorem.  Students received their tests back yesterday.  Please remind your students to show you their grades, parents! 

Grades close for the end of the trimester 1 on Wednesday!

Algebra students are beginning Chapter 5 this week, and Pre-Algebra students are working on area of irregular figures as well as area of shaded regions of figures.

Hope all of you have a Happy Thanksgiving! :)

Hi! Your homework tonight is a handwritten worksheet on special triangles.  It has 6 special triangles on it for you to practice using the rules.

Algebra 11/14/13

Algebra students finished up Section 4.5 Direct Variation.  Today in class, we started 4.6 Slope Intercept form.  For homework, complete Page 244 #13-16 (You do not need graphs for these ones), 22-24, 40-44.

Week of November 11, 2013 Summary

Hi All,
Here is an update about what has been going on in my class for the week!

In Algebra, we are working on Chapter 4.  We have been working on Direct Variation this week.  I have posted a website for help on direct variation for students and parents under the Parent Resources section.  We are beginning Slope Intercept form (section 4.6), and we will be continuing this section for the rest of the week!  During class, the students have been watching funny videos with songs to help them remember slope intercept form and how to graph them.

In Pre-Algebra, we are continuing our work on Pythagorean Theorem.  We have done multiple open responses and real life problems during class.  We have also been working on some more challenging perimeter problems that involve Pythagorean Theorem.  I have posted a website under the Parent Resources section for help on Pythagorean Theorem.
