Wednesday Updates

Hi All,
Period 1: Today, you determined what no solution and infinite solutions look like on a graph for linear systems of equations. Then, we learned how to determine the number of solutions in a linear system of equations. For homework, complete Page 257 #3-16 all. Reminder: Test corrections due tomorrow on Chapter 4 test.

Period 3 & 4: Today, we worked on solving systems of equations graphically. For homework, complete Graphing Linear Systems Practice #1-8. Reminder: Period 3 is Optional, Period 4 is Required.

Period 5: We continued working on solving and graphing x and y intercepts. Complete the word problem a-f for homework! Try your best! I will be collecting it tomorrow.

Tuesday Updates

Hi All,
In Period 1, we solved linear systems using the elimination method. We also chose the best method for solving linear systems of equations, and worked on a few more word problems. For homework, do the review on page 260 #1-9, 13-15. If you would like extra practice, optional problems on Page 252 #23-26. I just updated the blog with the answers for you if you want them! Happy Studying. Reminder: quiz tomorrow!

In Period 3 & 4, we took a test on writing linear equations. No homework tonight!

In period 5, we began graphing standard form equations using intercepts. For homework, complete 4.5 Practice A #1-6. Use the graphs that are on a separate piece of paper to graph equations #1-4.

Answer Key to Review Sheet Pre-Algebra and Extra Practice!

Remember, you can also go to the Resources Section of the blog for extra practice and extra help on some of the topics for your test!

Resources Section Updated!

Hi All!

For Period 1, Resources Section of the blog has been updated for the Substitution Method and the Elimination Method. Watch the videos if you are having trouble with either method for solving a linear system of equations.

For Period 3 & 4: Resources Section of the blog has been updated with extra videos and a practice worksheet with answers for writing equations of parallel and perpendicular lines. Make sure to note that you can only do #1-8 & 19-20 on the worksheet! I am going to post extra practice and answer key to review sheet in the next few minutes!

For Period 5: Feel free to look at the videos for writing equations, since this is the next unit we will be working on!

Weekend updates and Reminders!

Happy Snowy Sunday!

Here are a few reminders/updates for our upcoming week:

Period 1: Your quiz was originally scheduled for Tuesday of this upcoming week. The quiz has been rescheduled for Wednesday! You do not have any homework this weekend, but we will continue to discuss the elimination method, and do some word problems when we see each other next.

Period 3&4: You will have your test the next time we see each other in school, regardless of if it is a delayed opening. I will be updating the blog with some extra practice, answers to review sheet, and some helpful websites to help you study/practice in the next few minutes. Study hard!

Period 5: You took your test on Friday. You do not have any homework this weekend. We will begin graphing using intercepts and writing linear equations when we see each other next!

Hope you all are enjoying the snow!

Wednesday and Snowy Thursday Update

Hi All!
I hope you are enjoying the snow! Here is an update for the rest of the week, so you can plan!

Period 1: We began working on the elimination method for solving linear systems of equations. For homework, complete page 251 #3-17 odd. Here is the website for the video we watched in class, in case you want help from MATH DUDE! Copy and paste the URL into your browser!
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d7sA9IpIq7c
Quiz is still scheduled for Tuesday of next week. It will cover all three methods for solving systems of equations: graphing, substitution, and elimination, as well as word problems. I will be after school on Monday of next week, if you guys need to review!

Period 3 & 4: We worked on a perpendicular line activity in class, and figured out that the slopes of perpendicular lines are opposite reciprocals. For homework, complete the half sheet set of equations. It has 10 pairs of equations. Your job is to tell me whether each pair of equations are parallel (same slope), perpendicular (opposite reciprocal slopes) or neither, and explain how you know. Test is scheduled for Monday of next week. We will review in class on Friday, and you will get your review sheet to practice with, as well.

Period 5: We continued to review for our test that is scheduled for Friday. You received a review sheet to work on during the snow day. I will post the answers to the review by 3pm today. Good luck studying.

Please note that I will update the blog if there is any other snow cancellations or updates! Have a fun day off!

Monday Update

Hi All!

Period 1, we finished up discussing substitution method. We worked on word problems and a geometry connection. For homework complete Page 245-246 #19, 20, 25, 26, 27, and 33* Challenge! Reminder: Quiz next Tuesday 2/14 on Linear Systems of Equations.

Period 3 & 4: we finished our discussion on interpreting slope and y-intercept. Reminder your test is Friday on writing equations. For homework, complete the open response. Remember to show all work on a separate paper. I will be collecting this assignment for a grade so work hard!

Period 5, we began reviewing for our test that is Wednesday. For homework, complete the slope Puzzle worksheet.

I am available for extra help this week on Tuesday and Thursday until 3:15 PM. Please plan accordingly!

If for some unlikely reason we do not have school tomorrow due to snow, Period 5 test will be moved to Thursday.
