Monday 2/29/16

Hi All!
In Pre-Algebra, we learned the special cases for solving systems of equations. For homework, finish your classwork, which is "Special Types of Linear Systems Practice". Make sure you do both sides!

In Algebra, we learned solving linear systems of inequalities today. For homework, complete Page 435-436 # 9-19. You will need graph paper. Remember, your math task packet that was handed out on Thursday of last week is due on Wednesday. Your test on linear systems of equations and inequalities is on Friday.

PRE-ALGEBRA ANSWERS TO REVIEW SHEET

Thursday February 25

In Pre-Algebra class today, we reviewed for our quiz tomorrow on linear combination method and graphing method for solving linear systems of equations. For homework, complete the review sheet. I will be posting the answers to the review sheet in a few minutes for you to check your work!

In Algebra class today, we took a quiz on systems of equations. You then received a problem solving task. The problem solving task will count as a classwork grade, and will be collected on Tuesday! I will remind you about this tomorrow and Monday. Also, for homework, you must complete the special systems worksheet #1-4.

ALGEBRA ANSWERS TO REVIEW FOR QUIZ TOMORROW

Wednesday, February 24

In Pre-Algebra today, we practiced the linear combinations/elimination method for solving linear systems. We will continue to do this tomorrow, as well as review graphing. I need to see where the students are at, so I will be giving a quiz on Friday to check in with them on linear combinations and graphing. There will be NO substitution method on this quiz. The students will receive a review sheet for the quiz tomorrow.

Pre-Algebra Homework: Solving Systems by Elimination worksheet #1-7 (Use a ruler for the graphs!)

In Algebra today, we reviewed for our quiz that is tomorrow, Thursday, on all 3 methods for solving linear systems of equations. After the quiz, students will work on some problem solving involving linear systems, which will be handed in for a classwork assignment grade.

Algebra Homework: Page 417 #1-10, and the word problems worksheet #1-3, Quiz tomorrow. Please check the blog for answers to both portions of your homework!

Monday and Tuesday 2/22-2/23

Hi All! Welcome back from February break. In both Algebra and Pre-Algebra, we are working on the next method for solving linear systems of equations, which is the linear combinations (AKA elimination) method. In Pre-Algebra, we will learn more about it tomorrow, Tuesday, and get some practice! In Algebra, we learned all about it today and will be practicing it in class tomorrow, Tuesday.

Homework for Pre-Algebra (Monday): Solving Systems of Equations Linear Combinations Worksheet #1-8

Homework for Algebra (Monday): Linear Combinations Worksheet Day 1 #11-20 *Separate paper/on the back. Algebra students will have a quiz on Thursday on the graphing method, the substitution method, and the linear combinations method for linear systems. We will review in class on Wednesday, since I will NOT be after school on Wednesday for extra help.

Homework for Pre-Algebra (Tuesday): Finish Red, Yellow, or Green leveled worksheet from class

Homework for Algebra: Back side of Red, Yellow, or Green leveled worksheet from class

Monday, February 1

Pre-Algebra: We began our discussion on Linear Systems of Equations. We did a whole class activity today to figure out what a linear system is, and what a solution of a linear system looks like on a graph. For homework, you must complete the linear systems of equations worksheet. Remember, your stained glass window project is due tomorrow as well!

Algebra: We are continuing our discussion on domain, range, and describing relations and functions. For homework, you must finish color coding the describing relations using interval notation sheet from class. Remember to state the domain and range, and to give me the intervals that each graph is increasing and decreasing. Remember, your word problem project is due tomorrow as well!
