12/18/14

Hi All!

In math class today, we reviewed for our test tomorrow. We finished both of our review sheets, and walked through the concepts. Students were able to ask questions for the test tomorrow. I will be holding an after school review session if students would like to stay. There is no homework tonight, besides to look at the review sheets and go over/redo any problems necessary to prepare for tomorrow.

In algebra 1 class today, we finished our discussion on scatterplots and best fit lines. We then began a discussion on point-slope form of a line. We went over examples together as a class, and then students practiced using the formula. Most students finished, but if not, the only homework students have is to finish the practice worksheet from class today.

12/12/14

Hi All!
In math class today, we learned how to graph equations that are in slope intercept form. You do not have homework over the weekend, but you do have a test on Thursday of next week. I passed back quizzes that you took on Wednesday, and quiz corrections are due on Friday of next week.

In Algebra 1 class today, we continued our discussion of perpendicular lines. We worked on a few more examples, and did an activity involving a geometry connection to parallel and perpendicular lines. On the back side of the activity from class, there is a review sheet for your quiz that is on Tuesday. This review sheet is due on Tuesday.

Hi all,
In math class today, you took a quiz on slope. We then did an activity to discuss slope in proportional and not proportional relationships. Since we finished the activity in class, we do not have homework tonight.

In algebra 1 class, we continued to practice writing equations given two points. For homework, complete Page 288 #21-35. I forgot my answer keys at work, so please look in the back of the book for the odd answers, and we can discuss in class tomorrow!

12/9/14

In math class today, we reviewed how to find the slope in a table, in a graph, and between two points using the formula. There is a quiz tomorrow on slope. There is no homework tonight, except to review your notes and classwork for extra practice.

In Algebra 1 class today, we started our discussion of chapter 5, which is writing equations when given the slope and y intercept, when given the slope and a point, and when given two points. We will be practicing these concepts over the next few days. For homework tonight, complete page 276 # 12-24, and page 282 #12-17.

12/8/14

Hi All!
In math class today, we discussed the slope formula. We worked on a partner activity. For homework, you must finish the column that you were working on in class on the partner activity.

In Algebra 1, you took a test on Chapter 4. You do not have homework tonight.

11/3/14

Today, in math class, we worked on finding slope on a graph. We figured out that no matter what two points we use on a line, we will always get the same slope! We discussed similar triangles being found using the ratio of "rise over run" for all of the different points, and then applied it to a real life situation of building a skateboarding ramp. For homework, you must finish the finding slope on a graph worksheet if you did not finish it in class.

Today, in algebra class, we continued to work on our graphing brochures that are due tomorrow. Some students are still have difficulty with the horizontal and vertical lines sections. You must give me an example, and then explain what the slope is for the example, create a table of values, and then graph and show either the horizontal line or the vertical line. Then, we worked on interpreting slope and y-intercept when given a word problem, an equation, a table, or a graph. Your homework is to finish that small packet. Reminder: your Chapter 4 test got moved to Monday. We will be working in class tomorrow on one final piece of information necessary for the test, and then starting review!

12/2/14

Hi All,

In math class today, we did an introduction to slope activity. The students measured the "Rise Over Run" of various stair cases in the school building. For homework, the students will complete slope (Rise over run) practice. They will need a ruler (in centimeters) and a calculator.

In Algebra class today, we learned how to solve equations graphically and how to check it algebraically. For homework, the students have Page 253-254 # 17-37 odd. In numbers 17-19 odd, there will be no graphs. In 19-27 odd, you do not have to check graphically. In 29-37 odd, you will solve graphically and check algebraically.
