Today was quiz day! Pre-Algebra had a quiz on terminating and repeating decimals and square roots. Algebra had a quiz on sections 2.1-2.4 in their books, which is adding and subtracting real numbers, absolute value and adding and subtracting matrices.
For homework:
Period 3 & 5(Pre-Algebra): Finish square root word problems started after the quiz. If you are having trouble, you should try to draw a picture to help represent what the problem is asking you to do. We will be spending some time tomorrow in class going over these!
Period 4 & 6 (Algebra): Finish the matching activity on the different properties of multiplication and addition. From your book, page 96 # 24-29, 36-41

Extra Credit--ALGEBRA ONLY!
Hello Algebra Students!
Here is the detailed description of the extra credit assignment for Chapter 1. You will be designing a poster for one of the four operations and "math word and phrases" (1.5 NOTES). You pick one of the four operations, and create a poster displaying the words that mean that operation.
What kind of poster am I talking about? Think about posters that your teachers have in their classrooms...What do they look like? How do they get the information to you? You need to find a creative way to get people attracted to your poster so that they will read it!
Posters must be on a poster board, not just a piece of paper! (normal size poster board from a store)
Posters must be colorful.
Posters must be neat.
Posters must have name and period on the BACK.
If you create a poster, and you follow the rubric, and receive atleast a 9 on the rubric, you will receive +3 on your test! We will be having a contest for the posters that will be on display in my classroom! If you win the contest (there will be four winners in each class), you will receive +7 on your test!
Here is the rubric for your poster:
Poster is written neatly. 4 points
All words and work are outlined in something other than pencil. 3 points
Name and period are on the BACK 1 point
Your poster is creative and attractive. 5 points
